The Higher Learning Commission has reaffirmed Cochise College’s accreditation, with the college’s next reaffirmation scheduled for the 2035-36 academic year.
For students, faculty, staff and our community accreditation matters in practical ways. It supports the college’s participation in federal financial aid programs, provides an independent measure of educational quality and can be an important consideration when students transfer credits to another institution.
The review process recognized the strength of the college’s mission, operations, and institutional effectiveness and identified opportunities for continued growth related to student learning assessment and academic program review processes. As part of the reaffirmation, the college will participate in embedded monitoring during the Year 4 Assurance Review, focusing on demonstrating completed assessment and program review cycles and on how those efforts inform continuous improvement, planning, and resource allocation.
This reaffirmation reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated across our college each and every day," Cochise College President James Perey said. "Accreditation is not simply a compliance process. It is an affirmation of the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of the work we do in support of our students and communities."
Dr. Perey recognized accreditation liaison officer Dr. Sheena Brown, members of the accreditation committee and employees across the college who gathered evidence, participated in meetings and supported the review process.
“This accomplishment belongs to all Cochise College faculty and staff,” Perey said.
For students, families and the communities Cochise College serves, reaffirmation represents more than a stamp of approval. It reflects an ongoing commitment to providing a quality education and continually improving the student experience.
